Adani foundation receives ‘Vriksh Mitra’ award in Narmada District Forest Festival for best contribution in social forestry and horticulture. Suposhan Sangini team of Adani Foundation is awarded ‘Vriksh Mitra’ Award in a function held today in 72 nd Forest Festival for doing best work in social forestry and horticulture. This award was given by Lilaben Ankolia, Chairperson, Women and Child Development Commission, Government of Gujarat, at Jitpur village of Nanod block. District Forestation Committee hosted this program in the presence of several dignitaries.
Adani Foundation is active in various social activities including abolition of malnutrition since 2019. With the motive of giving benefits of such scheme to targeted groups, Adani Foundation has selected195 women and trained them as ‘Suposhan Sanginis’. These Sanginis visit village of Narmada district and provide guidance to mothers and adolescent girls regarding nutrition and health.
They also collaborate with Anganvadi workers and representatives of communities for abolition of malnutrition prevalent in children of age up to 5 years. During the Forest Festival, these ‘Suposhan Sanginis’ have played a
vital role in selecting beneficiaries and identifying suitable land for forestation, while ensuring adequate water supply for saplings after plantation.
These Sanginis are contributing significantly to improve the Environment and Social credentials of Narmada district. They have also provided training to utilise leaves and pods of drum sticks in every village and thus make this practice more remunerative. This award is slated to provide further momentum to the work done by
‘Suposhan Sanginis’ in Narmada district, in line with the vision of Adani Foundation.
Three other NGOs of Gujarat are also selected for ‘Vriksh Mitra’ Award
