APM Terminals Pipavav celebrates Global Safety Day

APM Terminals Pipavav celebrated Global Safety Dayon September 8 through various activities with a theme of ‘Leading with Care’. APM Terminals Pipavav has embraced the best practices of safety at work for employees and workers. The objective of this celebration is to create awareness about safety amongst the employees and to integrate safety in daily work.

The large safety posters were placed across the port to create awareness. The activities at the Global Safety Day celebrations included poster competition for Children, safety skit by Bulk operation team to guide “How to carry our safe operations during COVID”, LPG safety demonstration for township residents, awareness on household waste management, small celebration program followed by tree plantation by the management. Around 50 children across the age group and locations, participated in the safety poster competition with great enthusiasm. LPG safety demonstration program was organized in two batches in collaboration with Gassafe India Limited. The primary objective of this demonstration was to ensure that users strictly follow all guidelines put forth by Oil & Gas companies to avoid any kind of incidents. The HSSE team organised a virtual Gemba by the leaders at the jetty in which leaders from the region participated. “Leading with care” gallery focussing on the cyclone restoration work created by asset management team to take the employees through various safety precautions taken pre and post cyclone. The celebrations witnessed enthusiastic participation from employees across the locations.   

Safety is at the core of the operations at APM Terminals Pipavav. The Port has recorded incident-free operations with zero fatalities and zero lost-time injuries (LTI) frequency rate continuously for 954 days as on August 2021.

The port has embarked on APM Terminals’ designated safety initiatives to ensure maximum safety with collaborative efforts in transportation, suspended loads and lifting, working at heights, stored energy and control of contractors.
