Kosol Energie plans 2GW solar module manufacturing unit in the US

Ahmedabad based Kosol Energie is looking to invest ₹300 crore for setting up a 2-GW solar module manufacturing facility in US.

Kosol Energie Pvt Ltd’s chairman and MD Kalpesh Kalthia, said ” US president Donald Trump wants manufacturing to be done in the United States, so we have zeroed down on a location for setting up a 2 GW solar module manufacturing facility with an investment of ₹300 crore. We have been in the hospitality business in the US since 1991, and we understand the local market,” Kosol Energie has a 3.1 GW solar module manufacturing facility at Bavla near Ahmedabad that exports to the US market

 In April, Kosol Energie bagged a 400 MW PV module supply order through Zetwerk for NTPC’s 1.6 GW Khavda Solar Project in Gujarat. The solar module manufacturer is looking to set up a battery cell and battery pack manufacturing plant, for which it is scouting for land in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Gujarat. Last year, the company had a turnover of ₹800 crore, of which exports accounted for 5-7 per cent of the total turnover. CMD Kalthia said, “We are currently exporting very niche solar modules – of which the majority is to the US. Currently, we have an order book of over ₹3,200 crore, of which a significant portion is for delivery to the US.”

A recent milestone that further cements Kosol’s industry leadership is its inclusion in NTPC’s prestigious Category-I (Cat 1) list of approved solar module manufacturers. Being awarded an order under Cat 1 by NTPC, India’s largest power utility, places Kosol in the elite league of solar manufacturers recognized for superior product performance, quality compliance, and large-scale manufacturing capacity.
