A study titled the ‘Cocoon Effect on Home and Health Security’ by Godrej Security Solutions, a business of Godrej & Boyce, the flagship company of the Godrej Group, has revealed that a whopping 78% of citizens residing in Ahmedabad are inclined to purchase health security gadgets such as sterilizers etc. contrary to only 8% prior to the pandemic.

With the rising number of COVID cases and fear of the third wave, the focus on health and safety has been prominently present, This was reflected in the purchasing priorities of the group of citizens in Ahmedabad who were part of this survey by Godrej Security Solutions. In a pre-pandemic situation, only 17% of respondents agreed to be worried about health issues of their parents and children, as opposed to 95%, who now seem to be extremely cautious of the health and wellbeing of their family members.

The study also found that staying at home was prioritised and done to protect the health and wellbeing of loved ones among the citizens of Ahmedabad in the current times. Over 30% of respondents have indicated an intent to invest anywhere between INR 10,000 to INR 25,000 to ensure the health and safety of their family members. With the ease of lockdown restrictions and gradual re-opening of activities, it has become more important than ever for citizens to take charge of their health security. These changes in consumer behaviour are expected to be seen even after the pandemic recedes.

With the gradual relaxation of lockdowns and social distancing norms, people are now required to take charge of their health security to curb the spread of the virus. Adopting additional health security measures to eliminate or minimise any exposure to this highly contagious virus while stepping out of home or being at home is imperative. Godrej Security Solutions, the provider of home and commercial Security Solutions in India, has released the results of its study, the ‘Cocoon Effect on Home and Health Security’ to not only showcase how the idea of home safety has transformed before and during the pandemic, but also generate awareness about the need of home and health security solutions going forward.

Speaking on the survey outcome, Swapneel Nagarkar Designation VP & Business Head Godrej Security Solutionsexplains that the research was commissioned to assess the impact of the pandemic. He stated “It is heartening to see that majority of the citizens from Ahmedabad are taking accountability for their well-being and adopting health and home security solutions. There has definitely been a shift in India’s attitude towards well-being and adoption of health and home security solutions, which can be attributed to the pandemic, which has led to the Cocoon Effect among citizens. An increasing number of citizens are now looking at securing their families by adopting new age health security gadgets. As a trustworthy brand that has been securing Indian homes for several decades, it was incumbent on us to take strategic steps to support the country in the fight to secure homes and health of every Indian by making solutions available at the right time.”

The pandemic has made consumers realize the increased need for home surveillance not only to protect property but to also secure the safety of their loved ones remotely. Keeping this in mind, Godrej Security Solutions recently launched India’s most secure home camera range, the ‘Spotlight’.
