78% of Ahmedabad residents are inclined to spend on health security gadgets owing to the pandemic: Godrej Security Solutions survey

A study titled the ‘Cocoon Effect on Home and Health Security’ by Godrej Security Solutions, a business of Godrej & Boyce, the flagship company of the Godrej Group, has revealed that a whopping 78% of citizens residing in Ahmedabad are inclined to purchase health security gadgets such as sterilizers etc. contrary to only 8% prior to the pandemic.

With the rising number of COVID cases and fear of the third wave, the focus on health and safety has been prominently present, This was reflected in the purchasing priorities of the group of citizens in Ahmedabad who were part of this survey by Godrej Security Solutions. In a pre-pandemic situation, only 17% of respondents agreed to be worried about health issues of their parents and children, as opposed to 95%, who now seem to be extremely cautious of the health and wellbeing of their family members. 

The study also found that staying at home was prioritised and done to protect the health and wellbeing of loved ones among the citizens of Ahmedabad in the current times. Over 30% of respondents have indicated an intent to invest anywhere between INR 10,000 to INR 25,000 to ensure the health and safety of their family members. With the ease of lockdown restrictions and gradual re-opening of activities, it has become more important than ever for citizens to take charge of their health security. These changes in consumer behaviour are expected to be seen even after the pandemic recedes.

With the gradual relaxation of lockdowns and social distancing norms, people are now required to take charge of their health security to curb the spread of the virus. Adopting additional health security measures to eliminate or minimise any exposure to this highly contagious virus while stepping out of home or being at home is imperative.
